A. Any plastic that may decompose and degrade in course of time resulting into a compost will be a compostable plastic.

A. No, Biodegradable and Compostable plastics are different.

A. No, all biodegradable plastics are not compostable however all compostable plastics are biodegradable.

Q. Who needs certification w.r.t plastic?

A. All the manufacturers producing compostable plastic in India as well as all the sellers responsible for marketing and selling of compostable plastics must obtain certification for these from CPCB and SPCB.

Q. What is adequacy assessment of ETP?

A. Obtaining the capacity of ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) to treat the max amount of wastewater up to the targeted values of wastewater parameters, is known as its adequacy assessment.

Q. What are pollution control norms needed to be achieved?

A. MoEF&CC has notified wastewater discharge standards for every type of industries in India, which is required to be followed by every respective industry.

A. Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change, Central Pollutions Control Board, State Pollution Control Boards in every State, Pollution Control Committees in every Union Territories.

A. Based on pollution load, Industries in India are classified in Red Category, Orange Category, Green Category and White Category, where Red being most polluting and White being least polluting.

Q. Which industry requires permission for operation from Pollution Board?

A. All kind of industries being Red/Orange/Green/White needs permission from their respective state pollution board for operation. The time of validity of permission will be different for every type of industries in every state.
